New plan

Mom said that ever since she started writing regularly, people have started following her blog. Soooo, every other day (or so) I will make a random post (or 2, or 3, or 4, or more ;-)  about things in my life (example: school, cool new stuff, reviews of movies or books, you get the idea). So, just letting any people who are looking at this blog and thinking "wow, she only posted twice since May!" that I plan to write more. sidenote: the main reason I'm doing this is because Mom said if I post regularly on my blog, I don't have to do english (HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) P.S. I take requests ;-)

UGGS!!!!!!!

Today, my brand new Ugg boots came in the mail! I'm so excited!! I got them when Yiayia came to town. It's awesome having a rich grandma! She bought my cousin a $400 helicoptery thingy that he can control from his ipod touch, so when I asked for boots that were "only" $170, how could she say no? ;-) I got "Crinkle-Cut" Uggs with a big button on the side and extra fuzz on the inside. You'll never guess the best part; THE'RE PURPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH, I DON'T EVEN WANT TO TAKE THEM OFF TO SOAK IN THE NEW HOT TUB!

The birds are doing great. They now have names! In the picture on the left, from right to left, it's Lilac, Fluffy, and Peep. On the right it's Fluffy then Lilac then Peep. they now have all of their down feathers and are starting to gain their flight feathers. They're getting adorable little white dots all over. Every time I go to check of them, they think I'm there mom with food (hence the open mouths). That's all for now. See you later!

Look who we found out on our pool cover! He is soooooo cute isn't he? We're not sure what kind of frog he is yet, so if anyone can help us out, that'd be great. He has moderately bumpy skin, with a lot of splotches. There is a distinct light spot under each eye. He has large toe pads (he is using them to climb the book in the picture) and is about 1.5 to 2 inches from nose to tail. His belly is off white/light yellow, and the underside of his back legs are a bright and very stunning orange yellow. If anyone has any clue what kind of frog he might be, please leave it as a comment. To listen to him, click the play.

Daily Birdie Report

The birdies were sleeping both times we checked on them today.  It looks like their eyes are about to open, but since they were sleeping, we couldn't tell.  They are starting to grow their wing feathers.  Sorry no picture.

Invention convention!!!!!

today was the invention convention. I invented the "Ketch-all" a giant pocket to go in between the seat and door of your car to stop stuff from falling in  that little gap. It's late so I'll describe it better in the morning.

birdie's birdies: day 3

still nothing yet, although we got a picture of momma in her amazingly constructed nest. await pictures tomorrow.

Birdie's birdies: day 2

No changes yet.

Birdie's birdies

General Excitement here at the schoolhouse, what with the invention convention approaching so fast, and our yesterday's find. I was doing a little "outdoor invention work" with my friend when we spotted a robin sitting in her nest. Now it just so happens that the invention stuff we were doing required a camera, so we had it all ready. We went closer to get the pictures (we don't have a very good zoom) and momma robin flew away. Wo we decided to check for eggs, and, lo and behold! 3 perfect eggs! I will be keeping a daily blog-journal of how the eggs/peeps are doing, so stay tuned.

Chuzzles!!

Hi everyone! while on a new years cruise to the Bahamas (I know, awesome, right?) I was playing on the computer in the kids club, when i discovered CHUZZLE! chuzzle is so cool. If you've ever played jewel toy, bejeweled blitz, dino drop, or goobers lab, it's sorta kinda not really like that. first of all, Chuzzles are these ADORABLE little puff balls with no noses or mouths, just eyes. the object of the game is to drag chuzzles to make groups of the same color chuzzles of 3 or more. when you drag a chuzzle, the whole row comes with it.rows and columns are in loops, so if you hada row that went "red chuzzle, blue chuzzle, yellow chuzzle, orange chuzzle," and dragged it 2 columns over, then you would have a row that went: yellow, then orange then red then yellow.you probably can't understand what the heck i'm talking about because i know i did a lousy job explaining it, so here's a link to play it: http://www.games.com/game/chuzzle/ NOTE: The online version is only available for Windows users running Internet Explorer. there are other complications like big chuzzles and locks. I downloaded chuzzles for my ipod, and whenever it loads it gives me random facts about chuzzles. here are some (and no, I'm NOT making this up):

though colorful, chuzzles themself are color blind

chuzzles vary in sizes from microscopic to thrice universal.

when chuzzles pop it smells like cinnamon.

a Chuzzle has the proportionate strenght of a dolphin.

Chuzzles come into being with an inate knowledge of golf.

Chuzzles have no word for "inlet".

Chuzzles love cake, but only as a conversational topic.

Twelve chuzzles make a dozen.

Chuzzles have no pockets.

no chuzzle has ever lost their keys.

in nature, no chuzzle is ever mor e than 50 feet away from another chuzzle.

chuzzles have no fear of plaid.

chuzzles loge playing peggle.

chuzzles learn quickly but forget even faster.

chuzzles cannot beer the sight of the moon.

chuzzles tell each other apart with a series of complex hand signals.

chuzzles turn purple when they eat veggie pizza.

a chuzzle can always light a campfir, even underwater!

a chuzzle always knows where jupiter is

chuzzles are unsure how how hammers and nails go together.

chuzzle music generates from six chuzzles harmonizing their offspring.

And these are only some of the amazing traits of Chuzzles!

Olentangy Indian Caverns Field Trip

Hi! It's Birdie here to tell you about a field trip that the whole school took, plus two exchange students (a.k.a Me, Mom, and two friends)! It was so cool. We went to the Olentagy Indian Caverns. First, after we got there, we looked around the gift shop while we waited for the rest of the group to arrive (we went there with our co-op). Once everyone was there, we all meandered on down a path to a small building. Then we waited for a tour guide to arrive and unlock the door. Once she came, we entered the building. It was like a mini museum with a bunch of geodes and fossils and arrowheads that were found in the caverns, plus a big timeline telling when any remotely historically important people entered the cave, whether looking for a lost cow, or performing an execution.

Then, after looking around for about 10-15 minutes, we rounded a small corner, and there standing before us was a set of steep, narrow steps. We walked down them, turned on the landing, and there, before us, was another set of narrow steps. So we went down, and down, and down; 69 steps in total. And in those 69 steps, we went down 1/4 of a mile (told you they were steep)!  (Mom’s note: we did go down 1/4 mile total, but we went down further once we reached the cavern.) Then we came to the actual caverns. We went through the left passage (it forked here) and then another left at the next fork. Then we walked along the passageway until we reached yet another fork! The left fork was boarded up, because there were still a whole bunch of rocks and tons upon tons of mud in there.

Then our guide pointed out some interesting rock formations, one in the shape of an Indian chief, one in the shape of a 15-foot long canoe, and one in the shape of a bear (well, not exactly because the formations were made naturally, but bear with me and use your imagination). The Indian chief in the wall is supposedly Chief Leather-Lips, called such (no, not because he needed some chap stick) because he never broke a promise, not even to save his own life. He was executed by Tecumseh at the mouth of the caverns because he refused to break his promise to the white men not to fight against them, and when Tecumseh came recruiting, Leather-Lips refused to join just to keep his promise.

Upon going though the right fork, it dead-ended in a small and cramped room that was called the "Crystal Chamber", even though there was hardly a crystal in sight. We stayed in there for a bit, then re-traced our steps back past the canoe, Leather-Lips, and the bear, and upon walking a little ways back through the passage, went through a tight little passage called "Fat-Man's Misery" into another dead ending room, this time much bigger. So much bigger in fact, it 's ceiling had caused the hill 1/4 of a mile above us!

After looking around for a bit and seeing some amazing fossils in the walls, we exited the huge chamber through another passage, and went back still farther along the first passage, going right past the stairs an into the right fork. After walking a little more, we entered another room, this time with a huge flat rock in the middle of the floor. There were two dead ending passages leading out from the room, so we were allowed to go "exploring" into them. The first one went about 15 feet, and then I ran into, you guessed it, a fork! The right fork was little more than a large crevice in the wall. The left fork was much more interesting, as it did not dead end, but kept going for who knows how long, but, from the floor to about waist level was solid rock, so the tunnel was barely enough room to crawl in. The second passage had very muddy, slippery, naturally formed "stepps"to get to it. It was just a big dead-ending room with a gargantuan stalagmite in the middle and a whole lot of puddles in it.

After everyone had walked around these two tunnels to their hearts content, we went back up those stairs, back through the museum, back up the path, an back into the gift shop, where I told the two "exchange students" that I had brought $20 with me and that I would buy them anything that they wanted under $5. As the older one only bought a $3 gemstone heart, and the younger one bought a pair of $6.50 earrings, and I bought 2 "Break Open Your Own Geodes" one for me and one for my friend who's birthday is coming up (she likes rocks a lot) that cost $4 each, so it all worked out. Then, since we were already in that area of town, we went and looked around the zoo for a while and saw some animals and on the way out mom splurged and got a bag of cotton candy! YUM! It was a really, really, really fun day.

The Boy Who Dared is a great book for anyone who even remotely likes history. It is a novel based on the story of a WW2 youth, who decides to stand up to the nazis. The story starts out and the boy is in jail. It is a tuesday. The executioner works on tuesdays. Then we travel back through a few of his earliest memories where his biggest dream is to become a soldier. Then we go on through his past, as Hitler is growing to power. He and his three brothers are all starting to see how wrong these things are. Then we come back to present, where the person in the cell next to  his is brought out to be executed. Then, we find out that his mother has married a nazi soldier, who utterly hates all of the brothers. Eventually, he gets so mean, he drives one of the brothers out of the house. Just before he leaves, however, he shows his illegal radio in a locked cabinet and makes him swear not to tell anyone. After he leaves, his younger brother picks the lock, gets out the radio, and tunes in on a british station. A foreign station. An illegal station. Every night, he gets it out and listens, and eventualy brings friends to listen with. What will happen? Will he get caught? READ THE BOOK!
